Thailand's extensive railway network is not traditionally associated with luxury travel, but Bangkok-based luxury DMC is looking to "reimagine" train travel through its customised offerings.
These curated half, full and multi-day rail journeys are tailored to small groups, who can hop onboard the State Railway of Thailand’s newer SRT Prestige railway cars.
“There were not many upscale options until now. With the new SRT Prestige bogies, coupled with our themed experiences, we want people to join us to 'reimagine train travel', and bring a whole new level of fun and comfort to this century-old culture," said Daniel Fraser, co-founder and CEO, Smiling Albino.
Themes can range from Gatsby-like 1920’s train capers and Halloween railway mysteries, to festive holiday trips to historical locations. This will include outfitting the carriages in relevant themes as well as on-board entertainment depending on the destination and concept of each trip.
Taking from 10-30 pax, an all-inclusive bespoke half-day journey will start from 200,000 baht (US6,671).
The DMC also highlighted the advantage of the ease and accessibility of train travel, which allows guests to be immediately immerse in the region travelling to while utilising existing infrastructure and keeping to a sustainable form of upcountry travel.
Corporates and private groups are also within their roll-out plan. Ideal group sizes between 10-30 people, though larger groups can be accommodated.
