A diver’s playground is set to open off the shores of Bahrain this summer as part the world’s largest underwater theme park.

The centrepiece of the dive site will be a submerged Boeing 747, which will serve as an artificial coral reef and habitat for marine life, AFP reported.

Stretching over 100,000sqm on the seafloor, the dive site is expected is part of Bahrain’s tourism strategy to grow its visitor arrivals and develop its attractions.

Other attractions in the park include a replica of a traditional Bahraini pearl merchant's house along with other artificial coral reefs and structures.
