When Air Astana launched its Stopover Holiday programme for transit
passengers in 2013 to boost tourism in Kazakhstan, the affordable rates
proved extremely popular amongst 59,000 travellers until the pandemic
brought it to a stop in 2019. It now makes a timely return as travel
strikes back.
The Stopover Holiday programme continues to offer Air Astana
passengers one night’s accommodation on a bed-and-breakfast basis and
airport transfers for only US$19, when flying through Astana and Almaty.
Passengers can also extend their stay at the hotel for an additional
fee.
To enjoy the programme, Air Astana passengers transiting through
Nur-Sultan and Almaty with a minimum 10 hours connecting time between
flights can book online with their ticket reservation number, personal
data and hotel selection. Upon completion of the booking process, a
confirmation voucher will be sent to the passenger’s email address.
When passengers arrive in Astana or Almaty, they will be greeted by a
driver and driven to their selected hotel. They are then free to
explore the city independently or top up an additional fee for a guided
city tour. On the day of departure, passengers will also be driven from
their hotel to airport.
Previously the Stopover Holiday programme was trending amongst
passengers travelling from Seoul to Dubai, Istanbul and Tbilisi, from
Delhi to Tashkent, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Baku and Tbilisi, and from
Istanbul to Thailand, Maldives, Seoul and Delhi.
