After months of crowdsourcing on Facebook to find out the destination preferred by travellers, Cebu Pacific (CEB) has announced it will begin flying to and from Basco, Batanes daily from March 25 till October 27 this year.
The campaign saw netizens making use of the hashtag, #CEBFlyMeTo, to indicate where they wanted the carrier to take them to.
In addition to their feedback, the decision was also made based on criteria including airport readiness (such as meeting runway specifications), safety and security processes, and passenger facilities and operations.
“Our new flight to Basco is in keeping with our commitment to connect more of the Philippines and make air travel safe, affordable, reliable, and fun-filled for everyone. What makes this route more special is that netizens were actively engaged in the selection of our new destination – our customers were part of the process,” said Alexander Lao, Cebgo president and CEO.
Passengers can fly to Batanes via connecting flights from Singapore to Manila that start from SGD$231 (US$176), all in.
CEB flies to 37 domestic and 25 international destinations.
From 2018 to 2022, the carrier expects delivery of seven brand-new Airbus A321ceo, 32 Airbus A321neo, and eight ATR 72-600 aircraft.
