AviationActress believes flight attendants are not rewarded enough for the job they do

Should you tip your flight attendant? A Hollywood star says you should

A Hollywood actress has called for flight attendants to be tipped by grateful passengers - and it seems some travellers agree.

Kaley Cuoco, who played a flight attendant in the HBO Max TV series The Flight Attendant, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, told a reporter before catching a flight at Los Angeles International Airport that “inhabiting the role of a flight attendant” gave her a newfound appreciation for the job.

“They deserve tips,” she said. “They are not paid highly enough.”

Most airlines ban their flight attendants from accepting tips.

The US has a strong tipping culture, and according to one poll, roughly 20% of US travellers agreed with the actress that flight attendants should be rewarded for the services they provide.

Imagine, though, if you’re in the centre seat of a Boeing 727 when companions each side of you lay a hefty tip on the food tray at the end of the meal service.

Wouldn’t you feel obliged to do the same?
