Frankfurt Airport is set to introduce a biometric passenger processing solution to ease the travel experience for passengers.
Passengers travelling through the airport will soon be able to breeze
through the various steps in their journey, from check-in to boarding,
by simply scanning their faces at biometric touchpoints located
throughout the airport.
The solution will be rolled out to all interested airlines at the
airport and additional biometric touchpoints will be installed by spring
2023.
The project is a significant development in the field of digital
travel, offering a common-use biometric platform at all Frankfurt
terminals, open to all airlines operating at the airport. SITA Smart
Path integrates with Star Alliance Biometrics and offers seamless
identification of passengers without additional process steps across
multiple participating airports and airlines.
Lufthansa passengers, specifically, will benefit from the integration
of SITA Smart Path with Star Alliance Biometrics, using their biometric
identities enrolled on the platform.
NEC I:Delight, a digital identity management platform, is fully
integrated with SITA Smart Path and has been ranked the world's most
accurate face recognition technology by the US National Institute of
Standards and Technology. Passengers who opt to use the service will be
quickly and accurately identified, even on the move.
Those who do not wish to use the biometric solution can check in at a traditional counter.
The airport aims to transform the travel experience for all
passengers with a simple, intuitive solution that maximises operational
efficiencies and provides greater autonomy and convenience.
