India is keener than ever to open its doors to visitors seeking home stay and bed and breakfast accommodation.

So much so it is launching the Incredible India Bed & Breakfast /Home Stay Scheme.

The Ministry of Tourism, in a statement, said it is revisiting the scheme’s guidelines to boost expansion of home stay opportunities in states where it is already operating, and encourage other states to offer the facility.

The ministry hopes to cut red tape and taxes, and simplify procedures for those wanting to offer home stay accommodation.

An aggressive marketing strategy is planned to encourage more B&B establishments. Online travel agents (OTAs) will be involved in the process.
