Out of the top 10 airports named at the awards, six were in Asia. The others were Incheon International airport (2), Tokyo International Airport – Haneda (4), Hong Kong International Airport (5), Chūbu Centrair Nagoya (6), and Kansai International Airport (9).
Amidst busy development plans for Terminals 4 and 5, Singapore Changi Airport has been voted the World's Best Airport by air travellers for the fourth year in a row at the 2016 World Airport Awards.
This is the seventh such award that Changi Airport has picked up.
Changi Airport also received an award for Best Airport for Leisure Amenities. These leisure amenities include the music bar lounges, cinemas, music deck, swimming pool, napping and rest areas and the in-terminal Transit Hotel.

In the latter half of 2017, Singapore Changi Airport will unveil its fourth Terminal (T4), designed to meet the operational needs of both full service and low cost carriers. With the opening of T4, Changi Airport’s handling capacity will be increased to 82 million a year.
Other new developments at the airport include Jewel Changi Airport, an iconic mixed-use complex fronting Changi Airport Terminal 1. Scheduled to be open in early 2019, Jewel Changi Airport will have five storeys above ground and five basement storeys, covering a total gross floor area of about 134,000 square metres. The complex will be connected to all terminals and be within walking distance of Changi Airport’s departure gates.
Jewel will offer aviation and travel- related facilities, as well as a wide range of retail offerings that include unique leisure attractions and al fresco dining. The retail mix will introduce new-to-Singapore concepts, top international brands, and home-grown names.
