Cairns is hoping for better things with the arrival of Silk Air flights.
Cathay Pacific has revealed the details of a brand refresh, which includes the introduction of a new slogan — “Move Beyond". The slogan replaces “Life Well Travelled”.

However, for the Tropical North Australia city of Cairns, the ‘Move Beyond’ slogan has a hollow ring after the Hong Kong-based airline confirmed this week that it would move beyond Cairns.

Cathay said it would not extend its Cairns-Hong Kong route beyond October despite last-ditch negotiation efforts from tourism and political representatives. The route is being axed after 26 years.

In a statement, Cairns Airport said the airline had reaffirmed its decision not to continue the route despite pleas from Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland and Tourism Tropical North Queensland.

Cairns tourism officials are hoping additional flights from Singapore Airlines’ subsidiary SilkAir from June will bring in more visitors.
