Malaysia’s transport minister Datuk Seri
Liow Tiong Lai, who is in China for a four-day visit,
said, “Guangdong is highly interested in establishing ‘friendly province and
state’ status with Malacca. This will certainly help in attracting more
tourists from Guangdong to visit Malacca.”
Quoted by The Star, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd managing director, Datuk
Badlisham Ghazali, said incentives would be offered to airlines which
introduced new routes to Malacca, Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu.
“We stand ready to work with China
Southern Airlines with support from the Malaysian Government,” he said.
Besides a daily Guangzhou-Penang flight,
China Southern has a thrice-daily service to Kuala Lumpur from Guangzhou.

considering other destinations.
