Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s national carrier, has signed a memorandum of co-operation with JSC NC Astana EXPO-2017 to partner with the exhibition as its official air carrier.
The signing ceremony took place in the Kazakh capital Astana on 17 August between Astana EXPO 17 Chairman, Akhmetzhan Yesimov and Air Astana President, Peter Foster.
“With its international reach across Asia, Central Asia, Europe and the Middle East, Air Astana will be able to promote this major project around the world,” said Yesimov, who also described joint promotional plans for EXPO 17 as “enormously beneficial” when it comes to building awareness globally.
“The EXPO 17 site is well underway, and we look forward to supporting what will be a fascinating and enjoyable extended event, as Astana opens its arms to the world,” Foster commented.
EXPO 17, held between 10 June and 10 September, aims to draw two million visitors to Astana. The partnership involves integrating the airlines’ online reservation system onto the event site as well as a joint PR campaign. All transit and arriving passengers to Astana will also be offered free tickets to the exhibition.
