SINGAPORE– The idea of experiencing a destination like a true-blue local by staying in a home away from home has never been hotter amongst Singapore travellers. According to Airbnb, the world’s leading community driven hospitality company, its platform has recorded a total of 50,000 nights booked from Singapore since the start of 2014. In 2013, the number of Airbnb searches from Singapore jumped 200% on the previous year. Globally, more than 11 million guests have stayed on Airbnb to date.

Regional destinations remain high on Singapore travellers’ agenda, with three out of the top five hailing from Asia. Seoul came out top, followed by Paris, London, Tokyo and Taipei.

Ever since the first guest booking was made from this sunny island in March 2009, Singapore travellers have paid an average of S$145 per room per night. For a country that was recently named the world’s most expensive city by the Economic Intelligence Unit, Airbnb provides just the right alternatives for travellers looking for more value in their vacations when everything at home comes steeper.
