SINGAPORE - John Dart, secretary general of UAPA, the Asia Pacific Travel Agents' Alliance, is expected to deliver a hard-hitting speech on the ongoing row between IATA and travel agents at Travel Agents Exchange 2002 in Singapore next month.

Dart, a former chief executive of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents, is among those backing actions by the Universal Federation of Travel Agents (UFTAA) to seek sanctions against IATA in response to its failure to adopt a new passengers sales agency agreement.

UFTAA has written to competition authorities around the world asking them to implement an immediate review of IATA's immunity to anti-trust legislation.

Many UAPA members will attend Tax 2002 and are expected to be present on August 22 when Dart will address one of the key forums of the event - "Agents, unite: The time is now!"

Other topics Dart will cover at TAX 2002 on August 23 include consumer legal rights; travel agent legal responsibilities and consumer travel Insurance problems.

TAX 2002 will take place from August 21-23. For registration and more information, log on to: www.natas.org.sg/tax2002.
