31 July 2002SINGAPORE - John Dart, secretary general of UAPA, the
Asia Pacific Travel Agents' Alliance, is expected to
deliver a hard-hitting speech on the ongoing row between
IATA and travel agents at Travel Agents Exchange 2002 in
Singapore next month.
Dart, a former chief executive of the Australian
Federation of Travel Agents, is among those backing actions
by the Universal Federation of Travel Agents (UFTAA) to
seek sanctions against IATA in response to its failure to
adopt a new passengers sales agency agreement.
UFTAA has written to competition authorities around the
world asking them to implement an immediate review of
IATA's immunity to anti-trust legislation.
Many UAPA members will attend Tax 2002 and are expected
to be present on August 22 when Dart will address one of
the key forums of the event - "Agents, unite: The time is
now!"
