APeco calling for registrations

KOTA KINABALU - The organising committee of the Asia/Pacific Ecotourism Conference (APeco) is calling for registration to the four days conference to be held here from October 3 to 6.

This international conference is held in conjunction with the International Ecotourism Year 2002.

World renown ecotourism experts will be presenting papers at the conference. Reed Business Information Asia's editorial director, Yeoh Siew Hoon, will chair the four-day event.

The organising committee is targeting a minimum of 500 delegates. To date, close to 200 participants from the Japan Ecotourism Society and 50 from 18 Asia/Pacific countries have confirmed participation, said APeco's organising chairman, Albert Teo.

The conference is subsidised by Malaysia Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism (MOCAT) and the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA).

Registration before August 2 is entitled to the early bird discount of US$100. International delegates will also be accorded special airfares by Malaysia Airlines (quote the reference number G*QHIS8D).

The international registration fee, US$350 and early bird is US$250; MATTA members/government officials and non-government organisations is RM470, early bird RM370; students RM270, early bird RM250.
