TOKYO – ANA starts a new e-check-in service this summer for flights from Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai airports using advanced mobile phone technology to cut check-in time by two thirds. From July 10, passengers with e-tickets will be able to “e-PreCheck-in” and assign their own seat on the ANA web-site using their PC or mobile phone. They can check-in from three days to one hour prior to departure. At the airport, the passenger only has to hold his or her mobile phone or printed barcode, up to an automatic check-in machine and introduce a passport to receive a boarding pass. With this new technology, average check-in time for paper tickets will be reduced from three minutes to one and passengers can avoid long queues.
