MICE industry buyers have an opportunity to visit Australia in February for AIME 2001, the Asia/ Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo, thanks to AIME's Hosted Buyer Programme.

Held annually at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, AIME is a key MICE event, bringing together the best on offer from the Asia/Pacific, Europe and the Americas. AIME 2001 will be held on February 20 and 21, with the associated Asia Pacific Business Events Forum on February 19.

What makes AIME so attractive to buyers is the amount of products that can be investigated during one trip to Australia. And with the added option of pre- and post-touring, buyers see a great deal in a few days.

To date, products from destinations on show at AIME 2001 include Australia, New Zealand, Bali, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Fiji, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tahiti, Thailand, California, Egypt, France, Monte-Carlo, Spain, Kenya, New York, Turkey and the British Tourist Authority.

"If you haven't been to AIME you are missing one of the key industry events," said Gabrielle Stephens, AIME Exhibition Manager.

"AIME is a proven, successful event which last year attracted more than 600 exhibiting companies and more than 2,200 trade visitors. Each year, we host more than 200 international and Australian buyers. Feedback from buyers is that AIME is one of the best MICE events in the world and an excellent event in which to discover new products and destinations from throughout the world," Stephens said.

"AIME is the Asia/Pacific's most influential conference and meetings industry event and an essential event for Asian inbound and outbound travel agents, incentive agents and corporate, meeting planners," Stephens said. Stephens, who has overseen the rapid growth of AIME over the past four years, says that next year's event is expected to be larger than ever before.

"Since AIME invited participation from regions other than the Asia/ Pacific the show has grown rapidly," Stephens said. "Asia still has a very strong presence at AIME 2001 but the addition of exhibitors from Europe, the Americas and the Middle East has expanded the options for buyers."
