MELBOURNE – A record number of visitors – 2,708 – attended the 9th Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) in Melbourne late last month, up from last year’s 2,400.

The 13 percent increase came from 2,404 visitors and 304 hosted buyers who attended the third largest MICE event in the world.

AIME 2001 attracted more exhibitors than ever before (613), more international and Australian buyers (316) and covered 10 percent more space than in 2000. AIME included product and services from 62 destinations, up from the previous year’s total of 42 destinations.

AIME 2001, for the first time, was organised by Reed Travel Exhibitions, the world’s leading travel trade event organiser.

Next year’s AIME will be held from February 19-20.
