Kathmandu-based Sherpa Hospitality Group will be rebranding 15 luxury lodges under its new brand Mountain Lodges of Nepal (MLN), alongside partnering with Shinta Mani Hotels for the launch of the all-inclusive Shinta Mani Mustang.

Sherpa Hospitality Group’s new brand, Mountain Lodges of Nepal, is an evolution of the former Yeti Mountain Home and Ker & Downey Nepal. The collection of 15 family-owned luxury lodges is strategically situated near the Great Himalaya Trails, offering guests the convenience of embarking on spectacular treks.

It consists of seven lodges in the Everest region and eight in Annapurna. These 15 properties will be upgraded and refurbished with the rebranding, and will see the inclusion of new restaurants, new lodges and an array of curated mountain experiences for guests to opt for, ranging across all difficulty levels.

The first property to be unveiled under the Mountain Lodges of Nepal brand debut is the Phakding Lodge, located along Dudh Koshi river.

“Mountain Lodges of Nepal is an extension of our dream to offer world class, luxury stay experiences in the Himalayas,” said Namgyal Sherpa, CEO of Sherpa Hospitality Group and a born mountaineer whose mother, the late Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, was the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest. “From alleviating the hassles of flight and itinerary planning to providing comforting hospitality at our welcoming lodges, guests can count on us for truly memorably expeditions.”

The first newly revamped lodge to be unveiled under the Mountain Lodges of Nepal brand debut is the Phakding Lodge, located along Dudh Koshi river. The property features a rocky exterior and room interiors incorporated with natural rocks from the nearby riverbanks. Amenities include a rock-climbing facility for guests to brush up on their climbing skills, and a restaurant and lounge with dishes made from fresh seasonal produce.

In Q1 2023, the Deboche Lodge in the Everest region will be a brand-new hotel by Mountain Lodges of Nepal built from the ground up to showcase Deboche as a new destination for adventure seekers, offering views of Nepal’s mountains including Everest.

On the luxury design trail with Shinta Mani Mustang

As well, Sherpa Hospitality Group has partnered with Shinta Mani Hotels for the launch of the 29-suite all-inclusive Shinta Mani Mustang – A Bensley Collection luxury lodge on 1 March 2023. This will mark Shinta Mani Hotels’ first internationally flagged property outside Cambodia.

Shinta Mani Mustang is located in The Forbidden Kingdom, a place filled with some of the highest snow-capped peaks in the world, rich Buddhist culture, and a range of monasteries. Each of the 29 suites measure 45sqm, designed in the style of a traditional Tibetan home with an open-plan bedroom combined with a living area and a separate bathroom, and floor to ceiling windows with sweeping views of the Nilgiri mountain.

Other facilities include a 60-seater restaurant attached to an outdoor dining patio, serving up modern Nepal cuisine and western cuisine with locally sourced produced. There’s also the Aara Bar, named after an exotic local liquor, and the Wellness Center offering treatments using traditional Tibetan herbal medicine.

Shinta Mani Mustang is bordered by the Tibetan plateau with an elevation that rises from 1,372 to 8,167 metres above sea level.

The mixed-use activity room is a flexible space in the lodge that can be used for meetings, presentations, or yoga and exercise classes.

"Our group has been promoting experiential travel in remote areas of Nepal for many years now. It was our dream to create world class, luxury hotel experiences in the Himalayas and we couldn’t find a better partner than Shinta Mani Hotels to collaborate with on this vision as we share similar values,” said Namgyal Sherpa, owner of Sherpa Hospitality Group.

“We are very excited to be pushing the boundaries and creating a new and exciting project that will position Nepal as a quality, luxury destination and not just for budget travellers.”
