Big things are happening in small spaces off the coast of Singapore.

Sentosa Development Corporation is collaborating with Big Tiny -- the first Singaporean company to integrate the concept of “tiny houses” with ecotourism -- to launch Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island.

Lazarus Island is a short 15-minute boat ride from the Sentosa Jetty@Cove.

The five “tiny houses” - measuring between 14sqm and 16sqm - will be the first accommodation built on Lazarus Island for short term stay and grant guests access to almost 128 hectares of natural landscapes on the connected islands of Seringat, Lazarus, St John’s and Kias.

SDC said the collaboration with Big Tiny is part of the new initiative to bring accommodation, amenities, and leisure activities to the Southern Islands in phases from April 2023.

Thien Kwee Eng, CEO, SDC, said, “Aligned with SDC’s sustainability goals, these unique accommodation units have utilised innovative, sustainable solutions and technologies to allow guests to lower their carbon footprint.”

Other new amenities and activities will include a convenience store, overnight glamping experiences and non-motorised water activities.

Currently available are bicycle rentals and the Glasshouse, an air-conditioned multi-purpose space which boasts stunning views, providing a unique “out of the boardroom” green MICE experience.
