A slew of travel promotions targeting local travellers has hit the market in Malaysia, as attractions and destinations across the country seek to stimulate greater domestic travel demand with more Covid-19 restrictions now lifted.

Sabah Tourism Board has launched a domestic campaign, #BahMariLah, running through 31 August 2020. Anyone who purchases a package from the dedicated campaign website ( will be eligible for a lucky draw entry, and lucky winners will be rewarded with another local travel package.

“Since we have now moved into the Recovery Movement Control Order and more businesses are allowed to operate and more people receptive to travel, tourism industry players are also taking the opportunity to provide travel promotions at good rates for the domestic travellers," said Noredah Othman, general manager of Sabah Tourism Board.

Ms Othman hopes locals will take the opportunity to explore more of Sabah during this period, including Kinabatangan for family getaways, Semporna and Kudat for beach stays, and Tenom and Keningau for their agrotourism and culture.

Travel industry players have been informed of this campaign through their various associations, and they can take the opportunity to submit their travel promotions to be listed for free on the Sabah Tourism website.

Elsewhere in the country, Sunway has also launched the Ke Sana Ke Sini Ke Sunway campaign to coincide with Sunway Lagoon Theme Park's reopening on 4 July.

Sunway Malls and Theme Parks CEO HC Chan said: “As a key tourism player, we also need to play our part in restarting tourism domestically... [Sunway's] very attractive package for the locals is also in line with the government’s effort in boosting tourism with the announced RM1,000 tax relief for domestic tourism."

The RM499 (US$116) Ke Sana Ke Sini Ke Sunway package, which is originally priced at RM1,599, includes a two-night stay at Sunway Pyramid Hotel for two adults and two children, entrance tickets to Sunway Lagoon for two adults and two children, and welcome treats and activity vouchers worth RM200 from Sunway Pyramid.

Customers can purchase the package from 6 to 20 July 2020 and utilise the package to visit Sunway City Kuala Lumpur from 7 July to 31 October 2020.
