What is it about Bali’s sacred sites that beautiful Russian influencers don’t understand?

It’s a valid question with yet another ‘influencer’ facing trouble after posing naked on a sacred tree.

The influencer, said to be popular in Russia, nuzzled naked against 700-year-old weeping paperbark tree, known locally as Kayu Putih,

The tree is located at Babakan Temple in the Bali regency of Tabanan and is considered sacred by locals.

After local authorities were tipped off that the images of a naked Alina Fazleeva had appeared on Instagram, they were quick to act, threatening the Russian with fines and possible jail

The obligatory apology followed, allowing Ms Fazleeva to post more images on Instagram of her and her partner praying for forgiveness in front of the sacred tree. More fodder for her followers, of course.

It’s not the first time Balinese have been offended by influencers. Last year 22-year-old Russian influencer Alesya Kafelnikova had to apologise after posting a photo of herself lying naked on top of an elephant in Bali.
