The much anticipated Paramount Pictures theme park in Bali has taken a step forward with the signing of a construction agreement between the US entertainment company and Indonesian company Kios Ria Krea.

The two proponents of the theme park – to be built in Pekutatan, Jembrana regency, in the south-west of Bali - have been negotiating terms for more than a year, and the 26 July agreement to proceed increases the hopes for a 2025 soft opening for the park.

The theme park is being promoted as the biggest in South-east Asia although finer details of its construction timetable and attractions have been noticeably absent from Paramount’s owners.

The online signing event was attended by representatives of the two companies and witnessed by the Regent of Jembrana, I Nengah Tamba; the Minister of Tourism and the Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno; and the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster.

Paramount Pictures is part of Viacom CBS, the owner of the largest TV market share in the United States and the owner of Nickelodeon.
