Myanmar is rolling out the red carpet for citizens of six more countries, effective October 1, 2019.

The government’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism said the latest relaxation of visa restrictions would help to boost inbound tourism.

The six countries to be granted visa on arrival are Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and Australia.

Visitors from these countries will be allowed to enter through three international airports - Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, as well as some designated border gates.

Travellers must complete a form, attach a recent photo and pay in US$50 bills.

Visitors will be allowed to stay for a maximum of 30 days.

Myanmar grants visa-free entry to all nationalities of ASEAN member countries with the exception of Malaysia.  Japanese and South Koreans have been eligible for visa-free entry since October last year.
