Built on a ‘foundation of friendship’, the festival was originally conceived as a celebration of music, culture, family and friends. This year that includes participation from artists drawn from across the globe – including the USA, UK, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

The Penang Island Jazz Festival is returning to the Malaysian island in December with a swag of renowned local and international jazz musicians in tow.

Built on a ‘foundation of friendship’, the festival was originally conceived as a celebration of music, culture, family and friends. This year that includes participation from artists drawn from across the globe – including the USA, UK, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

The festival takes place over four days, featuring a programme of performances that pay homage to the rich history of jazz.

Held at one of Penang’s most popular destinations, Batu Ferringhi, festival venues include dining hot spots and the local night market.

The December 1-4 festival is supported by the British Council, the Goethe-institute Malaysia and the Danish Embassy.
