Indonesia is gearing up to introduce the Golden Visa programme
by the end of 2023, as part of a strategic shift in its immigration
policy aimed at stimulating foreign investment and enticing global
entrepreneurial and business talent.
Sandiaga Uno, the Indonesian Minister for Tourism and Creative
Economies, confirmed that the launch of the 'golden visa' is on track
for later this year, according to local reports.
The new residency-by-investment visa was originally slated to be
available by June 2023, but policy adjustments and other administrative
changes have delayed the launch.
According to reports, the visa waiver will be enjoyed by foreign
enterprises or foreigners who will make a significant investment in the
country by means of business or tourism.
The visa will come with both a five-year and ten-year validity, and
successful applicants will enjoy a series of exclusive benefits not yet
on offer in other visa categories.
With the impending launch of this visa programme, Indonesia will join
the ranks of countries such as Canada, Costa Rica, and Mexico that
provide extended stays tailored to professionals, retirees, and affluent
individuals.
Indonesia had previously floated the concept of a digital nomad visa in 2021, focusing on attracting visitors to Bali.
