Visitors planning a trip to France in the coming weeks could be hit by major strike action on railways and among ski resort workers.

The worst of these events affecting travellers is scheduled occur on Tuesday, 31 January when a nationwide strike has been called over pension reforms. Further action is planned for February

Ski lifts in the French Alps will be shut down on 31 January if lift operators go ahead with the planned strike.
Australia’s government Smart Traveller website cautions, “Monitor the local media for updates as the situation evolves. Large demonstrations may also occur during and around these periods. These demonstrations may turn violent.”

There could be further strikes on the railways on 7 to 8 February.
