An entire hillside village in north-western Spain has been put on the
market for the price of one ritzy villa in Marbella or Majorca.
The village in the province of Zamora, near Spain’s border with Portugal, has 44 homes, a hotel, a church, and a swimming pool.
The asking price? €260,000 or US$265,000.
As you might expect, there’s is a catch – Salto de Castro has been abandoned for more than three decades.
The village’s elderly owner had intended to turn it into a tourist
attraction but does not have the energy, nor the money, to maintain its
buildings.
He hopes a new owner will take on the challenge.
Anyone interested can contact Salto de Castro’s selling agents. It is currently listed on Idealista.
