One of Africa’s best-known destinations – Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River separating Zimbabwe and Zambia - might soon be the home of a Grand Prix race circuit.

Victoria Falls itself, known as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’, was declared a UNWTO World Heritage site in 1989

Tourism Update reported that a UAE business group is committed to developing a state-of-the-art medical facility, a grand prix circuit, and a hotel in Victoria Falls.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) chief executive, Karikoga Kaseke, says the tourism industry is looking forward to the implementation of the projects.

“We met them in Dubai and they are here to scout for investment opportunities. They have expressed interest in developing a state-of-the-art hospital, grand prix circuit and a hotel,” said Kaseke.

Victoria Falls has been designated a Special Economic Zone in Zimbabwe, focusing on tourism and financial services.
