Carnival’s much-awaited Carnival Celebration, powered by cleaner LNG fuel, has departed from Southampton, England, on a its maiden voyage, heading for Miami, where she will be christened on 20 November.
The 15-deck-high Excel-class ship is a sister vessel to Carnival's one-year-old Mardi Gras and, like Mardi Gras, has a roller coaster on its top deck.
Also, like Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration will have a giant water park on the top deck.
Celebration can hold up to 5,200 passenger and has six zones — themed areas that bring together different experiences from adventure to dining.
New features include a revamped main interior area called Celebration Central. Known as Grand Central on Mardi Gras, the ocean-facing atrium area on Carnival Celebration will span three decks and provide access to multiple food and entertainment venues.
One of the first things passengers see when they board Carnival Celebration will be a vast array of colour-changing lights designed to look like confetti.
