Luxury tall ship The Royal Albatross is offering unique cruise events for dog and cat lovers.

Options include “Fur-st Class Dining” as owner and pet sail around Resorts World Sentosa, enjoying a two-course meal by PetCubes during breakfast buffets and sunset dinners.

For those who do not own a dog, a pet companion package lets them rent a pup for the experience.

After detailed consultations with leading cat experts and authorities including vets, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Cat People, and Cat Welfare Society, the Royal Albatross recently launched a Cat Cruise.

Sylvia Lee, Tall Ship Adventures partnerships sales manager, said, “We've had one public cat cruise, and all the cats appeared calm and composed. They seemed to relish the air-conditioned grand salon and enjoyed the sunset and sea breeze from the upper deck.

“We've been offering dog cruises for two years, and we frequently receive queries about why there aren't any cruises for cats. Many of our dog-loving customers also own cats, indicating a potential market demand.”

The pandemic has spawned an increased focus on cherishing pets more deeply, added Lee.

“Participants often mention that the experience was memorable and that their cats seemed to enjoy and remain calm throughout. We've made provisions on the upper deck with spacious "catbanas" to ensure their safety.

“While their owners savour a four-course dinner, the cats can take pleasure in the sea breeze and watch the sunset.”

Dog cruises tend be more popular than the cat cruises, primarily because dogs are generally more outgoing and enjoy outdoor activities.

“While there's a growing trend of cats venturing outdoors, their owners are often more cautious, which is entirely understandable,” said Lee.
