Sarina Bratton, a trailblazing figure in the Australian cruising
scene, has been named senior strategic advisor and honourary chairwoman
of Ponant's Asia Pacific region.
With a remarkable tenure spanning over a decade at Ponant, Bratton's
influence has been pivotal in expanding the company's footprint in the
region. Her appointment will see her collaborating closely with Hervé
Gastinel, Ponant's global CEO on strategic opportunities, market
analysis, and initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions.
Gastinel praised Bratton's impact, stating, "I have the utmost
respect for her as a person and as a professional. She leads by example,
listens intently, acts with integrity and puts a strong emphasis on
supporting everyone around her."
Under Bratton's guidance, Ponant's growth has been remarkable,
transitioning from a fleet of just four ships to an impressive 13
vessels, with a 14th in the pipeline. The Asia Pacific region's revenue
share has surged from below 1% to an impressive 20%, a testament to her
visionary leadership and strategic acumen.
Bratton's dedication to redefining luxury cruising is widely
acknowledged, and her contributions have been a driving force in the
evolution of the Australian cruise industry. From her role in ushering
Cunard’s iconic QE2 to Australia to becoming the first woman worldwide
to establish a cruise line, Bratton's legacy is firmly etched in the
industry's history.
Reflecting on her journey, Bratton expressed, "My long-term
commitment to the small, luxury, expedition sector was from the outset a
natural fit with Ponant. It has been personally rewarding to see the
company grow, our people grow, and the meaningful contribution our
operation brings to Australia and Australians."
