Royal Caribbean International has rolled out complimentary guest-to-guest chat on the Royal app on Spectrum of the Seas, effective 17 December 2022.

The free chat service on the app was announced In a circular distributed to travel agents. Group texts were previously added to the guest-to-guest chat, but with the release of 1.17, guests can now add new guests to an existing group chat.

To stay connected with friends and family when onboard the ship, guests have to (i) first download the Royal Caribbean International app, (ii) log into Unified Guest Account Connect to the network (no internet purchase necessary), and then (iii) link to friends and family reservations (both parties must agree to the linking).

They can now send chat-only requests by searching for other guests' names. However, guests can also toggle on/off whether or not their name will appear in search results.

Passengers who are 13-17 yrs of age will automatically be toggled off for the search feature, although this can be manually toggled on. Guests who are 18 and over will automatically be toggled on for the search feature.

Passengers who need further information on how to run the application can contact Guest Relation Desk at Deck 4 once on board the ship.
