Royal Caribbean International has secured approval to proceed with
the development of its first Royal Beach Club, a public-private
partnership with the Bahamian government.
The seven-hectare destination experience will be situated at the
western end of Paradise Island in Nassau, and will combine the island's
beaches with the cruise line's signature experiences to create a unique
beach day.
Under the public-private partnership arrangement, Bahamians will be
able to own up to 49% equity in the beach club, with local businesses
and entrepreneurs taking charge of the majority of the experience and
the funds being reinvested in the local community. In addition, a new
tourism levy will be implemented.
According to Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean
International, "The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is the next step
in Royal Caribbean's commitment to increasing tourism in The Bahamas
and providing exceptional vacations to our guests."
The beach club will include private cabanas, pools, and cultural
experiences showcasing the spirit and culture of The Bahamas. The
architecture will offer views of the island's turquoise-blue waters and
white sand beaches. Bahamian fare, island-style barbecues, live music,
and local artisans will also be featured.
The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is scheduled to open in 2025.
