MSC Cruises is setting sail towards a greener future with the launch
of their new flagship, MSC Euribia, in Copenhagen, Denmark on 8 June.
The vessel will become the second ship in the MSC Cruises fleet to be
powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), a marine fuel that is known for
being one of the cleanest available.
MSC Euribia will also feature advanced environmental technologies
such as an onboard wastewater treatment system, waste management
handling, energy efficiency measures, and shore power connectivity that
will allow the ship to achieve zero emissions when onshore power is
available.
The naming ceremony for MSC Euribia will take place in Copenhagen, a
city known for its rich maritime heritage and a deep commitment to
sustainability.
The vessel's exterior will also feature a fresco designed by a German
graphic artist, Alex Flaemig, that aims to represent MSC Cruises'
commitment to protecting and preserving the marine environment.
As an LNG-powered ship, MSC Euribia will significantly reduce
greenhouse gas emissions and virtually eliminate other air emissions. It
is anticipated that bio and synthetic fuels will be introduced in the
future, which will further reduce the ship's carbon footprint.
The vessel will also utilise advanced wastewater treatment systems
and underwater radiated noise management systems to minimise the effects
of vibrations on marine life. Multiple energy efficiency features will
also help reduce and optimise engine use.
Onboard MSC Euribia, guests will have access to an array of amenities
and entertainment options, including a Mediterranean-style Promenade, a
variety of shops, 10 elegant dining venues, and 21 bars and lounges.
Additionally, the ship features a 954-seat theatre that offers live
entertainment every evening, as well as five pools and its very own
coral-themed AquaPark, one of the largest and most elaborate waterparks
at sea.
The fleet's onboard MSC Foundation Centre will allow children to
participate in educational games to learn more about the environment,
while adults can learn more about MSC Foundation's programs and causes.
