Australia’s cruise industry leaders have lined up to pay tribute to
Steve Odell, who in December left his role as senior vice-president and
managing director APAC for Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas
Cruises.
Ben Angell, Norwegian Cruise Line vice-president and managing APAC,
has praised Odell’s leadership role in the industry for more than 30
years.
Speaking at a Cruise Lines Industry Australasia (CLIA) function in
Sydney, Angell, the CLIA chairman, said Odell was a much respected
figure “both in cruise and in the travel agent community”.
CLIA Australasia managing director Joel Katz, welcoming Odell into
CLIA’s Hall of Fame, praised Odell for his willingness to share his
knowledge and experience “for the good of the industry as a whole”.
“During a 20-year involvement in CLIA he has always been available to
provide guidance and insight, and we are a stronger organisation for
his contribution,” Katz said.
Under Steve Odell's leadership in Asia Pacific, Regent Seven Seas
Cruises was named the top luxury cruise line in Travel Weekly Asia
Readers' Choice Awards 2022.
Before
joining NCLH, Odell worked in executive positions with Royal Viking
Line and Celebrity Cruises in the UK before moving to Sydney as VP sales
and marketing Asia Pacific for Silversea Cruises.
He later returned to London with Silversea Cruises, then moving to
Monaco to head Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific operations.
