Low cost, long haul carrier eyes new global markets
Norwegian shakes up Singapore-London route
The airline has flagged a one-way economy class ticket to London starting from S$199, while a one-way premium class ticket starts from S$839, including fees and taxes.
Low-cost carrier Norwegian has thrown its hat into the ring with the promise to launch non-stop flights between Singapore and London Gatwick on September 28 this year.
The airline has flagged a one-way economy class ticket to London starting from S$199, while a one-way premium class ticket starts from S$839, including fees and taxes.
From London, a one-way economy class ticket to Singapore starts from £179 ($320.73), while a one-way premium class ticket starts from £699.
A search of the Singapore Airlines website for flights from Singapore to London Heathrow on September 28, returning a week later, show the cheapest Economy fare at S$1702 return, rising to S$2887 for Premium Economy and S$6877 for Business Class.
Norwegian intends to launch a four-times weekly service, using Boeing 787s, and increase it to five-times weekly during the Northern winter season from October to March the following year, said Changi Airport Group (CAG).
This is Norwegian's 10th long-haul destination and first route to Asia from the UK.
“With a huge aircraft order and new traffic rights in place, the new Singapore route marks the first step in Norwegian’s ambitions to expand its existing long-haul network into a range of new global markets,” Norwegian said.
